Hong Joo Ryoo Presenting

I do Interdisciplinary Research at Johns Hopkins University (PhD) and National Science Foundation (Graduate Fellowship), previously affiliated with UC Berkeley (Quadruple BA), and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (Postbaccalaureate Researcher). Below are my involvements:

Physics

  1. Theoretical Physics 1: Emergent Spacetime, Quantum Gravity, Quantum Foundations, Mathematical Physics.
  2. Theoretical Physics 2: Quantum Chromodynamics in the nonperturbative energy regime.
  3. Experimental Physics: Hardware and reconstruction analysis of Dark Matter and Neutrino projects (Eos, Theia, and ANNIE).

Philosophy

  1. Philosophy of Explanation: in epistemology and metaphysics of science.
  2. Philosophy and Foundations of Quantum Mechanics: bridging theories of time, understanding, and mathematical physics.

Cognitive Science

  1. Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science: exploring grasp, semantics, doxastic attitudes, causation, mental models, and artificial intelligence.
  2. Agentic Artificial Intelligence in Particle Simulations: Developed the first agentic AI system for particle physics simulations (GRACE) with a collaborator.

Check my Google Scholar for a list of publications and Orcid for vita. In spring 2026, I will be teaching an introductory course on Foundations of Quantum Mechanics at JHU.
