Philosophy of Mind and Cognitive Science Work

Complementary to my work in the philosophy of explanation, I am currently investigating explanations involving the functionalism theory of mind as a set of causal relations. I am interested in the explanation of certain mental states within a causal model such as in the Kairetic Account of Explanation. On the other hand, the Hodgkin and Huxley model promises a compelling description of the action potential of a neuron, yet Hodgkin and Huxley insist that their model is not an explanation. I am interested in examining this notion through the Kairetic Lens. I am also interested in the implications of an AI model in terms of being able to construct explanations, especially those involving non-classical theories.
